After our return from our first ever Masterclass, it became obvious to us that there was a strong desire amongst the attendees that they wanted to learn more about each other and share the joys and frustration of their paper flower journey; however, they had no platform, other than The Paper Florist Facebook Group, to do this. While The Paper Florist Facebook Group is a wonderful place to share our art and quickly talk techniques without judgment, we felt we needed another platform that would allow us to engage with our members on a more intimate and personal level.

To address this need, we decided to start a podcast so we could engage directly with members and celebrate their beautiful paper flower making through thoughtful and engaging discussions on a monthly basis.

Stay tuned for our first Artist Spotlight feature and podcast in celebration of #internationalpaperflowerday!

We’ve been featured on Carte Fini’s blog! Mike, the owner of Carte Fini, has written a fantastic piece on his experience at our Masterclass last month in Monroe, Washington. If you don’t know who Mike is or what Carte Fini is, let us tell you: they’re the primary distributor of Italian crepe paper in North America. They carry 60 g, 140g, 160g, 180g and metallic crepe paper. They were also a vendor and sponsor at our Masterclass.

If you have a chance, head on over to our favourite paper supplier and read his experience at the Masterclass.

Thanks to Kate Alarcon of @cobralilyshop and our very own Quynh for this wonderful idea: We are thrilled to announce the first ever International Paper Flower Day!

We’d love for you to join us in celebrating the art of paper flowers and our vibrant, diverse community of paper flower artists. In honor of 18th-century botanical paper artist Mary Delany, we chose May 14th, which was her birthday.

If you’d like to participate, you can use the hashtag #internationalpaperflowerday. Feel free to post a photo of new work, an all-time favorite bloom or bouquet, a maker portrait, or a story about flower making, just to name just a few possibilities.
Also, if this sounds fun, please spread the word! This isn’t just for professional flower makers, but also for anyone who’s ever swooned over a well-crafted bloom or had a blast gluing tissue paper petals around a popsicle stick in elementary school....
